This guide provides an overview of the various design options available for customizing QR Codes using QR API.
Introduction
QR API offers customization options that allow users to design QR Codes according to specific branding and visual requirements. This article outlines the available design options, including custom logos, background images, and ready-made templates, as well as how to use these features effectively.
A. Design Parameters
Several design parameters are available in QR API to customize the appearance of QR Codes:
- Size: Specify the size of the QR Code image in pixels, ranging between 300 to 6,000 pixels, or select from preset sizes (S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL)
- Error Correction: Maintain scannability even with partial damage, with options ranging from L (~7%) to H (~30%)
- Data Pattern: Customize the pattern of data modules within the QR Code
- Eye Pattern: Edit the pattern of the position markers (eyes) in the three corners of the QR Code
- Data Gradient Style: Add a color gradient to the data modules
- Data Gradient Colors: Choose start and end colors for the data gradient
- Eye Color: Customize the inner and outer colors of the QR Code eyes
- Background Color: Set the background color of the QR Code, including non-dark data modules
B. Types of QR Code Designs
There are two main design options available through QR API:
- Custom with Logo: Add colors and patterns to the eyes and data modules of the QR Code, along with a logo image in the center
- Custom with Poster(Background): Place a black and white QR Code over a background image, allowing the QR Code to blend seamlessly with the design
C. Using Custom Logos and Posters
QR API allows for further customization through the use of logos and poster (background) images:
-
Custom with Logo Design:
- Logo URL: Enter the URL of the logo image to be placed at the center of the QR Code. The image can be uploaded using the Media feature within the QR API dashboard
- Logo Size: Specify the logo size as a percentage of the QR Code’s total size. Note that a larger logo may impact scannability
- Excavated Logo: Choose whether to remove blocks around the logo for a cleaner appearance
-
Logo Angle: Rotate the logo image to the desired angle
-
Custom with Poster Design:
- Poster Image URL: Enter the URL of the background image (poster) to be used. This image can also be uploaded via the Media feature
- Poster Positioning: Adjust the positioning of the QR Code relative to the left and top edges of the background image
- Poster Size: Specify the size of the QR Code relative to the background image
- Poster Eye Shape & Data Pattern: Customize the patterns of the QR Code eyes and data modules to complement the background image
D. Ready-made logo and Icon Templates
QR API also provides ready-made templates for logos and icons that can be added to QR Codes:
-
Accessing Templates:
- Go to the Media section in the QR API dashboard
- Choose from Upload an Image, Use the Logos Template, or Use the Icons Template
-
Using Logos and Icons:
-
Logo/Icon URL: Select a template, and the corresponding URL will be generated. Copy this URL and paste it into the logo.url parameter when creating the QR Code
-
Icon Color Customization: Change the color of icons using the color palette provided in the Media section. The updated URL will reflect the chosen color
-
Logo/Icon URL: Select a template, and the corresponding URL will be generated. Copy this URL and paste it into the logo.url parameter when creating the QR Code
E. API Request with Design Parameters
After configuring the desired design parameters, execute the API request to generate the customized QR Code. If the API key is invalid, the QR Code will be returned with a watermark as a preview.
